Brad Ritchie

Orchestrator / Arranger / Copyist

I’m going to go ahead and pre-apologize for the amount of work posts that will be showing up in the next couple weeks! But I have been very busy these past few months working on several different projects that are epic and challenging in a variety of ways. And the first one up is a doozy!

As a former musical theatre kid it was pretty amazing to get to spend a couple weeks this summer in the land of Oz as our crew worked on the music preparation for Wicked! We had the chance to not only do music prep for the score, but also for all of the songs that were recorded for this film. I often have to try and explain what it means exactly to do music prep and that I am just a very, very small cog in a big wheel. But that’s my favorite part of this crazy business, being part of a team.

And speaking of that: In addition to actually putting notes on the page in a variety of ways there has also been a slight tour to start up a new business. One of the best things to happen in the last couple years is to connect with @jordan_m_cox. We have been working on so much stuff together lately that folks told us we should actually make it a thing. So we did. On Staff Music Services is our new venture where we specialize in orchestration, arranging, music prep. Basically there to help get music on the stands any way we can. If you feel so inclined please feel free to give us a follow at @onstaffmusic. The website and all that stuff is in the works, but you can follow us on instagram in the mean time!

I hope everyone gets a chance to see this movie and I can’t wait to share some other exciting things that I can finally talk about in the next couple weeks!

And yes, that 7 dollar witch hat from Amazon for zoom calls was one of the best purchases I made all summer. I regret nothing…
